Hershey's Cookie Layer Crunch Caramel with Shortbread Cookie Bits Review

The first thing I noticed was how thick these chocolate bars are. They're about a full centimeter tall. Next I noticed the classic Hershey's milk chocolate flavor, mixed with a light caramel filling that isn't too sweet. Finally I got the crunch of the shortbread cookies. I found the cookie pieces to be fairly substantial and they definitely hold their own
without getting lost in the chocolate flavor too much.

I would say the ratio is about 60% chocolate, 10% caramel and 30% cookie pieces. No one flavour is too overwhelming and they all seem to blend together nicely.

It is a fairly filling chocolate bar, and while I only got a sample size (about 3 "squares" or the size of a "fun size" bar) I was satisfied. If I bought the full size I would end up cutting it into pieces and eating them over the course of several days, which I plan to do because I really enjoyed this chocolate bar!

Freeman Beauty Sweet Tea + Lemon Peel-Away Clay Mask Review

I think face masks are a wonderful little treat to do once or twice a week, but the big-name brand ones can get expensive quickly! So as an avid lover of Freeman masks, due to their affordability and wide product range I was so excited to see a brand new product to try and scooped it up immediately. While the peel-off masks haven't been my favorite in the past, I'm always willing to give them a go when I see a new one.

Unfortunately, this product isn't worth buying. I applied it onto my hand to do a test patch and after 20 minutes it still hadn't dried down. Assuming I had just put too thick of a layer I proceeded to apply a thin layer onto my face... HUGE mistake. Within a few seconds my eyes were burning and tearing up due to the potent sweetly-chemical smell. I once again ran into the same problem of the mask refusing to dry down and become peel-able.

After about 30 minutes of waiting and not seeing any results I decided to just go ahead and wash the mask off, which was another problem in itself. The mask hadn't dried, but had become quite tacky (like half-dried glue) so it wouldn't rinse off easily and involved a lot of scrubbing on my skin to remove all traces of the product. At the end of all of that my skin was dried out, red and stinging, likely from the scrubbing and not the product itself but it wasn't coming off any other way.

All in all, this mask is a huge pass from me. I'll stick to some of their better options such as the Strawberry-Chocolate or the Dead Sea Minerals.

Biore Baking Soda Cleanser

The 30ml sample size was quite generous, and allowed multiple uses so I could form a highly informed opinion of the product and the results it gave my skin. I washed my face three times a week and I believe I got 12-15 uses. Thankfully, a little amount of the cleanser goes a long way, I used a dime-sized amount each time and it covered my entire face.

First off, a 200ML bottle of the Biore Baking Soda Pore Cleanser runs about $8.00. Biore tends to go on sale frequently at Rexall and Shoppers Drug Mart stores so you might be able to find it even cheaper. Amazon also carries this product for a little under $8.00. This is a tremendous value considering that size should last several months.

Secondly, I’m not a fan of how baking soda smells and that was a concern that was quickly addressed as this cleanser has a very pleasant fragrance. I’d place it somewhere between a floral and a sweet clean scent. The scent doesn’t remain after the product is rinsed off, however during use it can be strong if you are sensitive to scents this might be a deterrent.

Next, the texture starts out as a thick gel (like a shaving gel) with pieces of light scrubby baking soda particles but transforms into a mousse-like foam with tiny granules of baking soda. The baking soda provides a very mild scrub, so it won’t affect sensitive skin however I didn’t find it to be enough so I supplemented with a facial scrub.

Finally, the results after my first use were amazing! This is one of the few cleansers that I can actually see making a notable difference in the quality of my skin. My skin feels softer and looks fresher. I can actually see my pores looking cleaner than before I used the baking soda cleanser. My skin hasn’t developed as many breakouts as usual, and the sensitivity of my skin wasn’t affected in the slightest.

I have already gone out and purchased a full-sized bottle of this product and I notice a huge difference in my skin when I stop using it. 

Garnier Fructis Grapefruit Tonic Shampoo and Conditioner Review

Garnier Fructis Grapefruit Tonic Shampoo

Garnier Fructis is a brand I frequently find on sale, so I decided to give it a go. I picked up the "Grapefruit Tonic" line because it claims to promote shine without weighing down hair. I have incredibly thick and long hair so this sounded like an ideal product for me.

The smell is very light, it is distinctly grapefruit but doesn't have the typical acidic smell that usually goes along with citrus products. The smell is much stronger on the conditioner than the shampoo, but it doesn't last in my hair once I exit the shower.

The shampoo lathers quickly and turns into almost a feather light foam, so I could quickly cover all of my hair with minimal effort. The conditioner however is much thinner than I prefer and I found myself using almost twice as much as I usually do just to feel like I had properly saturated my hair.

Garnier Fructis Grapefruit Tonic Conditioner

After using this product for 2 weeks I haven't noticed any positive effects or any of its claims. My hair is clean, but it gets oily within 48 hours, is very flat and frizzy with minimal shine. I don't feel like this line is effective for my hair type, and I won't be purchasing this line again.

Wet N' Wild MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipstick Review

After hearing about the new Wet N' Wild cosmetics for weeks, I was so excited to finally see them in Canada at my local Wal Mart. I've heard they can also be found at some RCSS and Rexall stores but I have yet to see them there. I bought mine for $5.37 each.

I didn't quite believe the hype online, but it was enough to pique my interest and boy was I blown away by the quality of these affordable liquid lipsticks. I purchased two colours, "Berry Recognize" which is a blue-based mid-tone purple, and "Missy and Fierce" which is a vibrant cool red shade. 

First thing to catch my eye was that the applicator has a notch cut out of it in order to hold more product, so it takes a while to get used to as compared to a regular doe foot - but after a couple uses I finally figured out how to use it effectively without overloading my lips with product. Otherwise, a lip brush can be used for more precision during application.

The best thing about this liquid lipstick in my opinion is that even when it has completely dried down, it doesn't dry your lips out or crack! I found that the product hadn't settled into any lines like my other matte lipsticks do, nor had it sucked the moisture out of my lips. It does dry down to 100% matte, which tends to highlight dry lips but I personally felt like my lips looked better after I put the lipstick on than before!

There is no scent or flavour in this liquid lipstick, and it dries down to be transfer proof within a minute or so and doesn't feather, even without a lip liner. I've found you only need a very thin coat for maximum coverage and pigmentation!


The shade selection is rather limited with only 13 shades available, but for ~$5.00 a piece this line is worth checking out!

Introduction To Swagbucks

Lately I've seen a lot of people asking about ways to make money from home. There's the typical avenues of sales such as Avon, Arbonne, Scentsy, Etc. But not everyone feels comfortable enough pushing products onto their friends/family/neighbors or even strangers in order to make an income... That's where Swagbucks comes in.

Swagbucks is a FREE to use site (they also have a mobile app for android, iphone, ipad and ipod touch) that pays you for doing things you likely already do online.

Such examples are:
Watching videos through the swagbucks page, answering surveys, doing searches through the swagbucks search bar (run by Yahoo! so you know it's legitimate) and playing games.

For each action you complete you get a certain amount of "swagbucks". 1 "Swagbuck" is equal to 1 cent. This doesn't sound like much, but it can build up quickly. You are able to cash out in a multitude of ways. The earliest cash out is a $3 Amazon.ca (or .com, if you prefer) egift card. There are other gift cards available too, restaurants, Starbucks, Lowes and Home Depot are just a few examples. My favorite way to redeem my swagbucks is for paypal cash, although the lowest cashout amount for paypal is $25 (or 2,500 swagbucks).

2018 Update: Swagbucks now allows purchases through "Mygiftcardsplus.ca" to qualify for swagbucks. So if you plan to buy gift cards as gifts, or for yourself - this is a great way to get cash back!

I will typically put the videos on play in a muted tab, so I can continue to work in quiet while still earning SB, the playlists tend to auto play but you can also help them along if desired.

Watching videos through the Swagbucks Widget. Within the widget there is a "WatchTV" option, that you can open and let the videos play through. Each video will credit 3 or 4%, once you reach 100% you will be rewarded 2SB. These videos also auto play, so you can mute the tab and leave it running to collect Swagbucks without putting in any effort.


Search Bar Wins - Not every search you make through the swagbucks search bar will give you SB, but each unique search has a chance to earn you money. My tip for this is to use the searchbar for as many things as possible. Say for example you want to go to your Gmail account. You'd type "Gmail" into the swagbucks search bar, and it would give you Gmail.com as a top result. That way you get to the page you intended to, but also get a chance to earn some money at the same time.

Swagcodes - Every few days or so Swagbucks posts a secret code somewhere on their social media accounts, and if you download the "SwagButton" widget (available for Firefox, Safari and Chrome) it will notify you of when the code is posted, and where to find it. These codes are typically worth anywhere from 3 to 5SB each, sometimes up to 10SB.

Answering Surveys - Swagbucks works in partnership with several well known survey companies, and will pay you to answer surveys. Mind you, you won't qualify for all of them - but I typically qualify for one per day. These surveys pay anywhere from 35SB to 110SB each. Be as honest as possible because if you are found to be providing inaccurate answers you can be banned from answering further surveys.
